Magmatic-Hydrothermal Systems Related Mineralization

Since its inception in Quito (1981), this course has established itself as the most important technical training program in the region. With over 40 years of history traveling through Latin America’s mining capitals and under the auspices of the University of Geneva, the 38th edition in Cajamarca continues this legacy of excellence. The event serves as a vital link between scientific research and industrial exploration, focusing on three pillars: cutting-edge updates on magmatic-hydrothermal systems, bridging the gap between academia and industry, and strengthening regional technical networks.

The course will offer a direct connection to the frontier of geoscientific knowledge through a methodology designed for maximum impact:

  • Strategic Venue: Located in Cajamarca, the epicenter of one of the world's richest metallogenic provinces (porphyry, epithermal, and skarn deposits).
  • Dual Methodology: 4 days of intensive theory (Oct 28-31) and 4 days of total field immersion (Nov 01-04) for in-situ concept validation.
  • International Support: Endorsed by SEG, SGA, and UNESCO, ensuring global standards and supporting young talent through a robust scholarship program.
  • High-Level Networking: Direct interaction between industrial leaders, elite researchers, and geologists from across Latin America.

  • J. Dilles: Magmatic environments in porphyry systems.
  • D. Cooke: Exploration, geochemistry, and mineralogy.
  • D. Rhys: Applied structural geology.
  • K. Kouzmanov: Porphyry-epithermal transition.
  • F. Tornos: Geochemistry, Skarns, and IOCGs.

  • R. Rodríguez: Peruvian Metallogeny.
  • J. Trujillo: Geology of the Cajamarca District.
  • L. Torró: Magmatic-hydrothermal systems in peraluminous granites.

  • Field Visits: Yanacocha, Galeno, Tantahuatay, and Hualgayoc District.
  • Core Shack Sessions: Antakori, Cerro Corona, and La Zanja.
